Education:

Chuck McCabe entered college at age 31 as a high school dropout and earned his B.S. from Adelphi University at age 34, graduating summa cum laude, #1 in his class of 142 adult students. He went on to earn an Executive M.B.A. from Pace University, where he also completed two years of doctoral studies (ABD) in business. Chuck is a 1990 graduate of Leadership Metro Richmond.

Experience:

After 19 1/2 years as an H & R Block executive, Chuck founded Peoples Income Tax in 1987, and he serves as President and CEO. Peoples operates tax offices throughout central-Virginia providing tax, accounting and financial services for some 10,000 individuals and small business owners. Peoples also provides income tax school and practice management systems to independent tax firms nationwide.

Peoples was recognized from 1993 through 1996 among Richmond's "Rising 25" fastest growing privately held firms, and in 1994, was named a Blue Chip Enterprise by the U. S. Chamber of Commerce. In 1999, Peoples was a recipient of the Torch Award for Marketplace Integrity from the Better Business Bureau of Central Virginia. Also in 1999, the IRS Assistant Commissioner for Electronic Tax Administration (ETA) named Peoples a “Special Friend of ETA.”

Chuck is coauthor of two nationally distributed books on career education for adults and author of numerous published articles. He has extensive public speaking experience on adult education, education reform, entrepreneurship and tax practice management. He has been a speaker at national conventions of the National Association of Tax Professionals, National Society of Tax Professionals, National Society of Accountants, and IRS Nationwide Tax Forums. Chuck has also taught as an adjunct faculty member of several colleges, including Virginia Commonwealth University School of Business.

Community Service:

He has received a number of awards, including the SBA 1991 Virginia Small Business Advocate of The Year. In 1992, he was recognized by a Board Resolution of the Greater Richmond Chamber of Commerce as the primary business leader to organize Metro Richmond 2000, resulting in Richmond being dedicated as an America 2000 community by then U.S. Secretary of Education, Lamar Alexander.

Chuck has served on the board of The Greater Richmond Chamber of Commerce and numerous Chamber education and small business support committees. He was a co-founder of the Chamber’s Biz LINC. He has also served as a volunteer for many other local and national organizations, including the US Small Business Administration, the IRS Electronic Tax Administration and the US Chamber of Commerce. Currently, Chuck is 2nd Vice Chair of the Better Business Bureau of Central Virginia; Board Executive Committee Member and Founding Chairman of the Virginia Council of CEOs; and member of the Dean’s Advisory Council of the School of Continuing Studies of the University of Richmond.
